12th May
Another two-up today, starting with Rebecca and Luke's romantic wedding at Observatory Hill Park. First time ever that I haven't almost had my head blown off, here, and the sunshine was perfect. Pity about the car company who picked up Luke half an hour late, and THEN head to get Rebecca... ( who looked beautiful, but suffered veil-stuck-in-mascara for most of the ceremony). This one was like marrying old friends, and none of us could have had more fun. These two are so in love it was contagious - there was a lot of hugging required. There was very nearly an "awfully wedded wife" moment - which happened at my own wedding, and I skipped away in delight.
Next Stop. Chinese Gardens, where we watched Janis and Andrew enjoy the last of the afternoon sunlight with their photographer, before starting the ceremony itself. Kind of fun, really - I don't often get to spy on the photo bit!
5th May
Enjoying the glorious sunshine on the terrace at Bather's Pavilion on Saturday with Brian and Amanda was a treat! This wedding was so easy. Everyone was in the right mood. Everyone was happy to help, and that makes everything run so smoothly. I rescued Brian from the guests, before the ceremony. Poor fellow was having his photo taken and not enjoying it - especially with everyone watching him, so I herded them all up the stairs, and saw him look at me in relief. Amanda was so ready and early that the (very cheeky) limo driver dropped her off half an hour before the ceremony and sped off. Rude. She had to hide in a friend's car until it was time! Both she and I had practised the pronunciation of Brian's middle name. I got it a little wrong, but it was only a whisper. Amanda just couldn't get it out, and we just stood there laughing. At the end, the bridesmaid turned to me and said, I really enjoyed that! Are all ceremonies like that? Well, yes. Mine are! A beautiful morning!
Off to Centennial Park, to celebrate with the very stylish Ben and Catherine. Nothing was left to chance at the wedding - they hada rock-star crew to make sure everything was fabulous. And it was. Catherinee''s super elegant princess gown stole the show from a huge bridal party of five a side. Girls in short dark blue dresses. Boys in dark blue suits. All of us standing on a water hyacinth carpet that was the best hope we had of not sinking into the mud. Until the vows, where the ground was so soft and wet under my feet, I could feel myself getting shorter the whole time. It was pretty funny, but my shoes will probably never be the same. Gorgeous, elegant and plenty of giggles. Perfect!
28th April
Two-up today! First stop, Manly Golf Club, for the beautifully elegant ceremony on the green, for Lily and Ankur. Lily arrived dead on time, and beaming. Ankur was a litrtle nervous, but happy to follow instructions to help. A false start with the little page boy , who decided to make his way down the aisle with the rings before the music began, and a bit of a giggle as I marched him back to mum. to wait for take two. Manly Golf Club, along with Chelsea of Chelsea Jayne Weddings had everything running like clockwork - I love that! As I left, Ankur and Lily's friends were stopping me to say thanks, and how much they enjoyed it. I skipped off to the carpark to change my dress for wedding 2 of the day.
Out of silver grey with pink flowers. Into little black dress, and on the road to Sawmillers Reserve, at McMahons Point, for a sunset wedding with Kimberley and Jayson and a group of family members ( and a lot of little rowdy kiddies!) Sawmillers is gorgeous. The access, however is awful. No parking ( but I was lucky) a real hike to get there, and not kind to shoes, but when Kimberley arrived, looking stunning in a Collette Dinnigan dress, none of that mattered. It was a fabulous ceremony, but hard to deliver. Cheeky littlies fighting, yelling and racing too close to the water, means distracted parents, but we did our best. Thank god for ipad - even though it got dark, I could still see, and as candles lit the spot, we sipped at champagne and watched the kids blow bubbles from their bubble guns. We all packed up and made the hike to the top of the street - even the bride was carrying a garbage bag!
26th April
Although I say I never, never do, I did take the long drive to Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley today But only because Lisa and Oliver asked me so nicely! As always, I was very glad that I did. I don't enjoy long drives, but I always like it when i get there, and we had a lovely time at this simple, intimate wedding at Peterson's Champagne House. Oliver ran a little late - he was nervous - and he couldn't find his shoes! ( Funny - he works for a shoe retailer!) Lisa arrived lookin very, very lovely, said sge was fine - she had just had a bit of a boohoo, but now she was ok. A bit more of a boohoo on her way down the aisle with brother, Danny, and after that, (almost) nothing but smiles. Small weddings give me the chance to chat with the guests, and by the time we begin, I feel like I'm talking to a bunch of old friends. Today was much like that. And it was beautiful.
21st April
A magic trio today! I started out, nice and early, with Joanne and Mark at the Chinese Gardens. This was lovely, intimate and calm. Joanne, dressed in fabulous red velvet, had a bridesman. Mark had a best woman. It was an equal opportunity wedding - just the way it should be. She and Mark arrived together, after the full bridal party entourage, and away we went! Just lovely - and just enough time for a few hugs and a photo, before heading off for number 2. I reached the darling harbour carpark - which was full - and had to strip out of my black lace dress, to change to match wedding 2. Pinks and purples. I am getting very good at quick change!
Next stop, Sydney Rowers at Abbotsford, for the all-about-family , it's about time wedding of Julie and Paul. Their 3 girls were quite possibly the best behaved children I have ever seen at a wedding, and amongst the tears, we had a gorgeous time of it. This was relaxed and light and all about the fact that after 16 plus years and three kids, Juie and Paul know exactly what they are doing! A true celebration, and a joy to be a part of. Julie wore bright candy pink! My 3rd bride in a row in colour!
Last one, but no less delightful, Rachel & Glen at Vaucluse House. This was perfect. I had to laugh at Glen, though. As we were waiting for Rachel, I told him to relax, not to worry, just to follow my lead, and I'll take care of everything - and he said that of all the things I had said to him the whole time since we met, that was the bit he liked the most. An absolutely perfect sunshiny way to finish a big, beautful daay.
20th April
Everything about this afternoon was glorious. The weather. The feeling in the air. The deeply emotional ceremony for Belqis and David. The tears from so many of the guests. That feeling of really having everyone in the palm of my hand. In the herb garden in the botanic gardens, at the base of the rotunda, David and Bel just stood both completely calm, and deeply moved at the same time. Of course, even in the most emotional of moments, outside, we are subject to the things we can't predict. Like tractors and the gardens train going past at exactly the same time. Like the lady in pink who stickybeaked the whole thing. Like the very noisy cockatoo that screeched above our heads ( which David decided was actually his late grandmother, Hazel - who also sounded a bit like that!) I got quite swept away today. And the bride, the beautiful bride, wore deep emerald green!
15th April
I married my very own Romeo and Juliet today, and I was so excited about it. Beulah and Deva enchanted and delighted and moved me to tears when I first met them. I think I spent more pre-wedding time with them than any other couple I can remember. I just wanted to hug them all the time! Especially today. Beulah looked so beautful in a soft pale lemony gold sari. Deva was nervous but calm - and the look on his face when he saw his wife to be was the reason I do what i do. A moment of technical trouble - or interference from somewhere, which I hate, but can't be predicted, was fixed in a minute, and although I would ( obviously ) prefer no hiccups ever, when I left Beulah told me that I had made her day, so I guess no harm was done. I could not wish a happier life onto a more glorious couple. Adore them. Utterly.
14th April
Vincent & Ree ( insert sigh.....) Oh these two. So loved up. So besotted. So absolutely real. So much fun. Everything I love. An absolutely lovely - but nippy - afternoon on the water at Rodd Point with the world's biggest bridal party - all of them gorgeous - and the coolest crowd I have had for a while. A day-before rehearsal saw me lying on the floor untangling paper garlands - somewhat successfully - for about an hour -with other helpers. It was fun! ( and terribly frustrating) This ceremony was longer than I normally would do, but it was so full of personality we ran the gauntlet, anyway! Ree arrived with her bridesmaids on a bus. An amazing proposal story to share. A moment of giggle at the end as Ree honours Vincent's request to "jump the groom" . And lots of nodding head as the guests took it all in and smiled away the whole time. Love that!
7th April
Happy Easter Saturday! What a lovely start to the morning with Megan and Shaun at Lion Gate Lodge in the Botanic Gardens. The sun was beaming, so we quickly rearranged everything for a skerrick of shade and once we got going this one was a ton of fun! We had monkey stories, and monkey ring bearers. We had vows about rugby league vs rugby union. Four lovely bridesmaids in different shades of green and blue - which unbelievably were the four colours of a gorgeous dress that I wore. Megan and Shaun were happy go lucky, easy to work with and so lovely to be around. (Which always makes me want to go the extra extra mile) . Simply lovely!
So, of course I was in a great mood when I arrived at Hickson Road Reserve for Katie and Justin's afternoon wedding.
Even better, I had plenty of time up my sleeve to bump into my friend Amy Chan, super duper amazing hair and makeup artist, quick hug and up into the Park Hyatt for a last minute pep-talk of all the girls and Katie's family, before returning to the boys in the park. The ceremony itself was just lovely, sweet and real and heartfelt with a couple of little giggles along the way. As I left, the sun was disappearing and the champagne was going down just the way it should! Great day!
31st March
Oh March, you were huge. You nearly knocked me over, but today I beat you and finished up with a big bang. Three beautiful weddings, today. Three sets of bridesmaids in coral, apricot, salmon - seems to be THE colour of the year again.
First stop, Curzon Hall, for Yufei and Tao. We had spent way too much time worrying about timing music, because this morning, all the girls were perfect. Tao's dress was ( self-admittedly) huge - but stunning, so it caused a couple logistic issues i.e. it took up so much space, I was squished into the flowers AND I had trouble seeing her face - she's tall, too! Apart from that, smooth sailing and lovely, lovely, lovely.
Then, to the The Rose Gardens, for Blake and Wendy. These two made me work for it. I battled them for weeks to give them what they deserved - a ceremony with personality, that represented them properly and made everyone feel special. I think I won - we had a lovely time. Wendy looked so lovely. Blake was smiling away, and it all felt very natural. Best bit? Where I had to say that Blake is sexy, and he knows it .....because he works out!
Last stop, The Sydney Marriott for Jenny and Gordon. These two were really, really sweet. Gordon was really, really nervous. So was Jenny - and they looked fabulous! I tell everyone the same thing, no-one needs to be nervous, because I'm not - and it's me who will do all the work! Gordon did accidentally get his rings muddled up and put the engagement ring on when it should have been the wedding ring, but apart from that, this simple sweet moment could not have been any smoother.
March complete.
25th March
Two up today! First one, at Hickson Road Reserve, with Chris and Rajnita, on the weirdest weather morning I have seen in sometime. One minute I was freezing, then I was wet and then my neck was getting sunburnt. Rajnita was running late - blame the limo driver! But once we got up and running, the sun came out , Rajnita beamed her way down the aisle - a little too quickly, really, but she was sooo happy! We did rings and vows, and then Chris gave Rajnita the traditional Indian Mangalsutra necklace as a surprise for her family, who weren't expecting any traditional Indian elements. Chris had another surprise up his sleeve for Rajnita - and he kept his secret between us til the very end. A butterfly release! ( Which went perfectly)
Back into the car to find Swains Garden, at Killara, which is a beautiful secret garden style rain forest, for Kam Fai and Leakkhena's wedding . We had a few issues with muddy ground, due to heavy rainfall during the week, but a bit of plastic and some strategic red carpets did the trick! This one was such fun! Lots of familiar, friendly faces, friendly, welcoming family, and a very relaxed and excited Kam Fai and Laks. Lots of laughs, great stories to tell, not a single thing went wrong until the very end, when with no warning whatsoever, the battery in my microphone died mid-sentence. Which sentence? "Kam Fai you may now.....oh oh.....kiss your bride!" The "kiss your bride" bit was a lot quieter than the rest, but we ran with it. I told everyone that he knew what to do. Kam Fai said "I'm going to do it anyway". Everyone laughed and I reminded myself that these things can happen, and they certainly don't ruin the day, unless I let them. I never do! Wonderful day!
24th March
A cultural feast today - and such a pleasure! Not only did I get to marry gorgeous Sarah and Jimmy at Sky Phoenix restaurant, with a lovely fun, romantic ceremony, but I ran their tea ceremony for them after that. Sarah wore the traditional white dress for the wedding (and looked gorgeous!) , then changed to a beautiful red cheong sam for the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. I really enjoyed it. It was the opportunity to honour Sarah and Jimmy and the life they lead day to day, PLUS their family and cultural background. It was also a chance to catch up with Mathew and May , whom I married in November and Jinsiu and Peter who keep popping up at many of my weddings. Hug fest!
18th March
This morning's wedding was, quite possibly, one of those great moments I'll never forget. Suiyi and Victor had mefall completely in love with them, whilst doing their homework, and I was able to write one of those fantastic ceremonies that i just know everyone is going to love. ( I certainly did) It was funny, and friendly and emotional. We had tears - all of us - and giggles and so much to celebrate. We had no idea what the weather was going to do - as we stood waiting for Suiyi to arrive, in the courtyard at Gunners Barracks, but it behaved itself and nothing could have been more perfect. Vic's smile was absolutely hanging off his face as he saw his bride come down the aisle. I just love that look. I skipped away in delight.
17th March
Wow! Boy did I get lost on my way to Sweeney's at Ingleburn, today! I love street addresses that actually resemble where the venue is. This wasn't one of them, so I rang Jesse, the groom and refused to get off the phone until I could see him in front of my eyes! Relieved, I came racing in to find that I wasn't the only one... And then we lost the page boy. And the flower girl got to us and lay face down on the floor. And then the button presser played the wrong aisle song. But Melissa and Jesse were gorgeous. And happy. The ceremony had people laughing and the mums crying too. And although the venue was off the beaten track, it was just right! A super lovely afternoon.
16th March
Two weddings in Vaucluse, this afternoon. Angela & Avihai's long-awaited wedding on Milk Beach was just gorgeous. Very private, very intimate and very special. We got sandy feet and the sun on our backs and when we were all signed and official ( a travelling Danish family as witnesses) I climbed the rocks to take photos of them to share with their families, later.
From one extreme to the other, and off to Vaucluse House where lovely, lovely Jayde and Steve were married in the gardens. It was hot and the traffic was bad, so we had poor Jayde stuck in a gorgeous bridal car with no air-con, whilst guests arrived late, but apart from that, this ceremony could not have been more perfect! Jayde was stunning. Steve was cool and excited. Steve accidentally said "unfaithfully" instead of "unfailingly" in his vows, which gave everyone good laugh - but apart from that, and me continually getting my head slapped by leaves on a branch above my head - this one was perfect!
11th March
First stop Liverpool Hospital today for a two in one pre-wedding commitment ceremony for 2 brothers, their wives to be and family. This was probably the most important ceremony I have ever written. The boy's mother is very ill. Today, for her, had to feel like the real thing. It had to be honest and celebratory and acknowledging of the situation, but not ruined because of it. I think I pulled it off. We all got a bit teary, but hey also managed a lugh and I was able to get everyone involved in some small way. When I walked away, down the hospital corridor, I had that feeling of having done something really good today.
And later, that evening, a secret hush hush wedding for a sweet Lebanese couple of star crossed lovers who planned to tell their parents AFTER the wedding. With only 3 witnesses, and myself, they married and then we shared cake and pink champagne, and lots of photos. There was a lot of love in that room!
10th March
Two up in the Botanic Gardens this afternoon. Two beautiful blonde brides. Renee and Jane. Two nervous grooms. Mark and Chris. And me - to hold it all together. It was a perfect day. First , the Eucalypt Lawn, with Chris and Jane. Jane was nervous about the ceremony - really nervous, but she did so well. It probably helped that she looked glorious, but she made it down the aisle - and although she said she was shaking, you couldn't tell . Once she arrived, everything went perfectly. I'm always a little proud of my extra-nervous brides. I remember being afraid of being in front of a crowd - a long time ago:) Not anymore. I can't get enough gorgeous moments.
Made my way over to the Rose Gardens, after a bit of a kerfuffle with heavy bags and someone to lug them around - but once that was sorted, I found everything I need to jump into action. Renee's smile was so huge it nearly jumped off her face! Had a moment of oops, when I couldn't find the father of the bride to do the giving away. I kept looking at the "dad" at the front, and it didn't feel right, but where was Dad? In the 3rd row! I had to call out for him, and march him down to the front - everyone laughing at me - but that's ok - laughter is always a good thing at a wedding! We sent beautiful white giant baloons into the sky to celebrate our good luck and ended with a bang! Couldn't be better!
9th March
From the moment I first spoke to Dee on the phone , and she dobbed herself in for 'stalking" me on line, I knew we were a perfect match. I could not have been more right. She and her lovely Robert were an absolute delight to be around. I wanted to hug them as soon as I met them. So I did. This ceremony almost wrote itsellf, and they loved it! On the day, it was perfect. Dee showed up, on time, looking amazing in a beautiful champagne gown. She was beaming and calm and relaxed until she made the walk down the aisle. Then she was beaming AND crying AND still gorgeous. I watched her proud Dad walk her down the aisle and I nearly joined her beautiful bridesmaid sisters in crying a littlle too. When it was all over and I wrenched myself away, my heart was singing.
4th March
And then the skies turned blue and steamy! For our morning wedding at Lauriston House, Yair and Janette could not have been luckier! These two were great fun to work with. A little tongue in cheek, very friendly and relaxed and raring to go! I always tell everyone that they should expect to get hugged - I can't help myself - so I was delighted when Janette took one look at me and coughed up my obligatory hug. She looked beautiful, and so, so happy. Although the traffic was still a bit noisy behind us and I did take my time drawing a breath on occasion, to let the trucks go past, I don't think anything could have wiped their grins off their faces! In fact, I doubt they even noticed.
3rd March
In the car for the long, wet drive to Sylvan Glen at Penrose, in the Southern Highlands, today - but it was worth it! Lovely, laidback, friendly Nat and Adam were worth the drive! My first job of the day? To find dry socks for their baby, Archie. Nat had them - like all good mums, - and once delivered, everything was ok! It was way too wet to hold the garden wedding that they had hoped for, so we squeezed a lot of people into an "intimate" space out of the rain and it was tight, but it was fun. Very relaxed, very much a moment for family and friends to walk away from feeling good about the love in the room! I certainly did! Nat looked gorgeous in lace with black ribbon belt trim and Adam and the boys were really dapper! Absolutely lovely and great fun to be a part of.
26th February
This afternoon, I could have been many things. PA. Wedding PLanner. Celebrant. Counsellor......( and actually, I was all of them). When I arrived at Long Reef Golf Club for Talli and Matthew's wedding, almost everyone was a little flustered. Not me. Not Talli. Not Matthew - but just about everyone else. A lot of silly little things weren't going according to plan - which can be stressful - but once we got started, everything fell absolutely into place. Teary Talli was crying one minute and laughing at herself for crying the next. Matthew made her giggle - which was exactly what she needed. So, what started out a little flustery became a really beautiful heartfelt moment for friends and family - and Talli and Matthew - and of course, for me. Talli's grandfather came to me after the ceremony and told me that he had never been to a wedding in which enjoyed the ceremony before today. Hurrah!
25th February.
A wedding that rocked. The kind that was absolutely natural, easy and great fun to do. I was always excited to help Prashani and Sione and this afternoon was everything they deserved. I was greeted with a huge hug assooon as I arrived - which always puts me in the right mood! Down by the water at Kirribilli, saw the wind pick up and send my signing pen, and their special copy of the ceremony into the harbour - and very nearly the marriage certificates - but we caught that one. Sione pumped his fist in the air and yelled " hell yeah" when I asked him for "I will" and everybody laughed. Prashani was absolutely herself - and very glam in white wide legged pants and cowl neck top - I love a bride with the confidence to defy tradition. Actually, I really love this bride......
22nd February
Super-short notice for today's little laid back affair. Tash and Kieran needed to get married in a hurry - after 20 years together - and being friends of a dear friend of mine, they knew who to call. It ws simple, it was short, but we had a giggle or two and Tash teared up, which surprised everyone. Her, mostly... And then we ate. Lunch for 6, and a glass of champagne and I skipped away delighted to be able to help.
19th February
I found myself climbing a cliff, to a rock face, overlooking the ocean, in the blazing sun, this morning. Fortunately I wasn't wearing heels. But when I got there, I was able to marry Jamess ( with 2 s's) and Josian in the first of their two weddings. I wrote them both - but the second one will be performed in South Africa. That's the big one, but this was the little abridged, legal version. Quite sweet really, but once done, we were all screaming for shade!
11th February
Two-upToday! First stop the Japanese Gardens at Auburn Botanic Gardens, for Anna & John, who made me laugh out loud whenever we met. I arrived to a panic at the gate. Booking time confusion and 3 rangers standing at the gate, watching their clocks for the exact time to let us in. Weaved a little magic on them all and in we went, watching everyone breathe a big sigh of relief! Once in, everything was easy. Anna pulled a swift on her guests and had her bridesmaids come down the aisle, whilst she came over the bridge and around the side. I had to move a LOT of happy snappers out of the way of the bride - and the photographers who would have been fighting for a vantage point, today. But it was all good. Hugs all round. A cheeky moment or two while the groom had a giggle at himself, and we all watched as they released a lot of butterflies into the air, and laughed at Anna as they landed on her dress and veil and scared her, too! Fabulous morning.
Jumped into the car for the rather long trip to Canoelands, for the very special marrying-all-over-again wedding of Jenna and Michael. I was excited about this. I married Jenna and Michael in August last year, in just a little wedding. I promised them that when they wanted to have a wedding we would do it properly. And we did. In spite of an unbelievable storm ( I mean absolutely torrential rain and wind!) which had me pied-pipering about 70 guests, inside to a different location mid ceremony, this was sooo much fun. For everyone. Very few couples are this loved up! ( And I loooove them, too)
10th February
Nearly had my head blown off this afternoon at Maryam and John's beautfuul wedding at Long Reef Golf Club. It was blowing a gale! There were times I felt like my ipad was going to fly out of my hands - but it saved the day. I could never, ever have done today's ceremony if I had pages to turn. No way. So we ran the gauntlet, because thunderstorms were predicted and we got no rain, and apart from the windswept effect, this afternoon could not have been more glorious. I tried little Persian to welcome the grandparents, and I think I pulled it off. Maryam was absolutely glorious - wearing one of the most divine dresses I have seen for a while, and one minute she was laughing, then she was crying! Perfect. ( I had armed John with tissues, so he knew what to do - delightful man!) I learnt today, from Maryam's fabulous and funny brother Mo, that the pivotal role for the entire day was that of the lugger. The person that carries my PA for me. Everything hangs on him!
4th February
My first ever wedding at Miramare Gardens, this afternoon, with the glorious and utterly delightful Rosanna and Shabeel. After a week of heavy rain, even on this steaming hot, sunny afternoon, we had to use the inside option, because the grounds were sodden, but it really didn't matter. I loved this one. The bridesmaids started crying, the moment they started walking and I had to hug them before we started! The groomsmen were easy! They had some of the most beautiful, poetic vows I have ever heard - and we balanced them out with a giggly story about a dinosaur called Dr Dickosaurus. After it was all done, whilst chatting and eating gelato, Rosanna accused Shabeel of crying, (she thought it would be her) and he vehemently denied it. They asked me to umpire and I thought No way! Gorgeous! Divine! Delightful!
3rd February
A super-top-secret evening wedding tonight for a lovely couple who will do it all over again in a big way, later in the year. This one was simple and sweet, with only 2 witnesses, and plenty of champagne and beer to celebrate. I got them both teared up as I read messages from the bride's few friends and family in Canada, that knew about it, and was so pleased I had suggested the surprise for them. Afterwards, the 5 of us, chatted, took photos and hugged. We didn't even notice the rain!
25th January
My journey to reach Grace and Matthew , this evening for their little lowkey wedding took me about 10 times longer than the ceremony itself. ( At least) The rain was utterly torrential, and the half hour journey took me two and a half hours to complete. I was so grateful that they decided to move it back to home ( instead of Dee Why Head ) and were happy to hang out with their friends while I tried every backstreet and alternate route I could to beat the shocking traffic. It didn't really work, but I did make it in the end. Different to my usual. Short and sweet - and the groom wore a baseball cap. ( I got a photo to prove it)
21st January
Where do I start? Alex and Phoebe's wedding at Gunners Barracks this evening, warmed my heart for so many reasons. Phoebe wore the same dress her Nana was married in, 66 years earlier - and Nana was there to see it . Such a treat! She looked beautiful - that really is vintage! I loved every minute of my time with Phoebe and Alex. They were warm and friendly and open to suggestion and working with them was such a pleasure. So I had a lump in my throat as I saw Phoebe come down the aisle , and watched the look in Alex's eyes as he did too. Smooth and perfect. This one had everything they deserved, and as I heard the laughter and saw the tears in some of the eyes, I was sure of it . Quite a few hugs before could leave this one!
20th January
aah! What a beautiful morning. For Bec and Casey's brunch-time wedding at Clifton Gardens Reserve, it was all about making everything beautiful, and relaxed at the same time. So everything was beautfully styled - in orangey-red and white , but Bec and Casey were chatting amongst the guests before the ceremony. There were croissants and tarts and champagne for before the ceremony and tequila shots for after it ( to start their marriage the same way they started their relationship). Bec's absolutely divine Carla Zampatti gown looked incredible. Actually, everything was incredible - and the ceremony was so much fun. It was light, it was fun and it was funny - and after the ceremony was over, as I helped myself to 2, oops, yes, 2 croissants, eveyboddy came to tell me how much they loved it , and how they had never heard one anything like it. Of course they haven't Bec and Casey never got married before!
7th January
Two up for my first wedding day of 2012, today - and it was off to the Eastern suburbs for two completely different - and absolutely lovely moments. First, to the little family-only wedding at Stan and Ruth at Ruth's family home in Coogee. This was real, relaxed fun. Ruth and Stan were at Katrina and Sej's - who are in London - wedding last January, and while this one could not have been more different, it was very special.Ruth and stan arrived, then Ruth disappeared and announced that she wanted gasps of amazement as she came down the aisle. So I led the guests in ooooh! Aaaah! Nothing like a giggle! Oh, and Ruth had fab red suede shoes! Yay!
Then, to Watsons Bay, and back under the figtreee at Robertson park, with Nguyen and Teak. Again, these two were friends of a couple I had also married - Helen and Khai - who are in London. I really had to work these two, to get the ceremony as wonderful as possible. I had a responsibility to Helen & Khai! But in the end, I won, and it really was perfect. Helen was oh-so-elegant in off-white lace and the bridesmaids in cream. Teak and the boys scrubbed up beautifully - with just a touch of humour with polka dotted ties. Skipped away in true happy fashion!
